Well...um...I dunno what to say really. I'm getting ready to start college next month. As of right now I'm in the middle of orientation. I'm still figuring a lot of things out around Lawrence and the campus itself. As of right now, getting a job and where I'm going to live are my primary concerns :?

It seems likely that I'm going to get stuck in a dorm despite the fact that I really don't like the idea of it, but I'm still hoping I can find a way to earn money to live elsewhere...which isn't likely... So far I love being in Lawrence regardless of all that. It's a lot more lively than boring ass Lindsborg's always been, and I might consider believing there's a god simply because of the food I've eaten here already.

Anyway, I'm just posting all this to update everyone on what I've been doing and why I've been gone so much lately. Preparing for my big move has been really hectic. If all goes well, then hopefully some time next month I'll be able to slip back into this glorious little forum world of ours and become a lot more active. I'll probably end up having to disappear for a little while toward the end of my 2nd semester if I end up in the dorms though, as I will definitely be doing EVERYTHING in my power to prevent getting stuck in Lindsborg for 3 more months again. I will even live in a cardboard box in and alley downtown if necessary.

So anyway, I hope I see at least all one of you that are still left in this town when I officially get out here. I also hope I don't end up in a cardboard box with a bunch of bags with all my belongings, because I'm going to probably end up living behind a coffee shop so I can swipe internet just so I can still get online should that happen.

I dunno. I think I'll need at least four or five square feet of area space to live comfortably...

Awesome, man! Glad you're enjoying Lawrence. Always was and is a great place to be. Hope your first semester at KU goes great.

Well I'm finally out here in Lawrence. I'm still settling in and all that, but so far I've had a good time. Figuring out where all I need to go is a little overwhelming though. I'm not used to being somewhere this fucking enormous. I know my way around the town already, but I have a hard time finding anything going through all these buildings and trying to find all these classes inside of them. But it's all good fun still.

I just thought I should check in on the forums to let everyone know how I'm doing and now that I'm finally getting settled into my new live I'm probably gonna be more active...finally...

If anyone could help me figure out this town though, that would be awesome. This place is a lot to take in all at once.

Are you in the dorms?

Part of the fun of going to college is getting to know a college town. Make sure and visit downtown Lawrence. That's always my favorite area to go. Make sure to visit...

Love Garden (the best music store)
Jackpot Saloon (bar/great shows)
The Replay Lounge (bar/great shows)
The Bottleneck (bar/great shows)
Miltons (good breakfast and great coffee)
La Familia (hole in the wall Mexican restaurant with great food)
Cielito Lindo (another great Mexican restaurant with big patio for outdoor eating)
Zen Zero (great Asian fusion restaurant)
Z's (good coffee)
Bourgeois Pig (good coffee and good bar)
Gamenut (video games and movies)
Gameguy (video games)
Astrokitty Comics (comic books, I work there)
Encore (good chinese food and bubble tea, they also have private karaoke rooms)
Teapuro (good tea and bubble tea)
House of Cha (good bubble tea)
Free State Brewery (great food and beer)
Lawrence Public Library (great place for books and movies)
Liberty Hall (smaller movies, concerts, and good video rentals)
La Prima Tazza (good coffee)

Those are some of my favorites. Downtown Lawrence is always changing, but there's always something going on, and it's fun. Check Lawrence.com for upcoming shows and events. Make friends and don't get into too much trouble.

I am in the dorms. So far I'm liking it better than I thought but my roommate's kinda...the paranoid sort... But I can safely say that there's NEVER a dull day in this dorm. I mean my GOD. People are everywhere in here.

And I have visited the downtown area. And I've already gone to La Prima Tazza...and you should know I've been inside Gamenut before. La Prima Tazza does have some nice fuckin' coffee, btw. I love it there. I'd go there more, but it's cheaper for me to buy coffee on campus...so unfortunately I've been doing that more.

Now that I officially live here though...I should PROBABLY look for one of those job-like things a little more in-depth than I have been.

The dorms can be a great experience. Enjoy all your new surroundings and experiences. Try not to stay cooped up in your dorm room all the time. Make sure to get out, not only of the dorm, but campus as well. Also, make sure that you don't get too distracted from going to class and doing school work.

So far I've been keeping as up to date on my school work as my class attendance has allowed. I've actually slept through a few classes already...

Weezer's list is excellent, and I would only like to add Henry T's (best burger and fries anywhere) and Tortas Jalisco around 6th and Kasold (my favorite two restaurants in Lawrence along with the already mentioned La Familia).

Btw, if you go to La Familia be SURE to order the sweet salsa and the hot salsa and kinda mix the two. More sweet than hot. It is delicious.

After living in Los Angeles and really having another city to compare it to, I have to say how amazing Lawrence is. It has so much for its size and location. Enjoy it!
